Samuel Koku Anyidoho, former aide to the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, for allowing the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to release its manifesto before the opposition party.
In a post on his X platform on August 19, 2024, Anyidoho expressed his disappointment, referring to Mahama as “a joke” for letting the NPP set the political agenda by unveiling their manifesto first. He argued that a serious opposition party, especially one led by a former president, should not allow the sitting government to present its plans to the nation before they do.
“No serious Opposition Leader (especially a former President), should allow the government of the day to put out its manifesto before you do yours,” Anyidoho wrote.
He further stated that with the NPP’s manifesto now public, Ghanaians have much of the information they need, making the NDC’s upcoming manifesto launch less impactful. “Everything you will say has been said already. JM is a joker,” he added.
The NPP launched its manifesto on August 18, 2024, in Takoradi, while the NDC is scheduled to reveal theirs on August 24, 2024, at the University of Education, Winneba.
